Position SummaryWe seek a dynamic and experienced Data Scientist to play an integral role in developing and enhancing LGC's data science product portfolio.

As a pivotal member of our innovative R D team, you will collaborate closely with multiple divisions within LGC, leveraging your data science expertise to deliver impactful insights and advanced solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess experience across various data mining techniques, analytical methodologies, statistics and modern data modeling tools. Skilled in designing, building, and deploying models on-premises and in the cloud, creating novel algorithms, programming, optimizing processes, and conducting comprehensive simulations.

You should be enthusiastic about extracting meaningful patterns from large-scale datasets, creating predictive and analytical models, and proactively managing data infrastructure to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency.

Job ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job effectively, an individual must be able to perform the following essential functions satisfactorily:Work with multiple partners throughout the organization to identify valuable data sources and automate collection processesUndertake pre-processing, curating, and model building of the structured and unstructured dataAnalyze large datasets and experiments to discover trends and patterns with statisticsHelp identify and define new product ideas based on the outcomes from the predictive models and machine-learning algorithmsPresent analytical results using data visualization techniquesPropose data science solutions and strategies for R D and business challengesTaking ideas from theory into deploymentLearn, follow, and deliver high-quality product development documentation consistent with LGC’s quality systems



Qualifications



:Ph. D or M. S or equivalent experience with at least 3 years of industry/academic experience in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, physics, computational biology, operations research, or a related fieldAbility to break down and understand complex business/scientific challenges, define solutions, and implement them using advanced quantitative methodsProficiency in high-level scripting languages (Python, Java)Experience with statistical data analysis and visualization tools (R, matplotlib, or similar)Experience with LINUX-based operating systems and shell scriptingExpertise in supervised and unsupervised learning methodsKnowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: Linear Mixed model, Clustering, GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, network analysis, etc. Ability to analyze algorithmsKnowledge of software development principles and architectureBasic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VisioPreferred

Qualifications
